Today, Nigeria celebrates 65 years of independence from the United Kingdom in 1960.

It will be marked with various celebrations across the country.

This young democracy with a population of nearly 250 million is plagued with so many problems, such as a high rate of illiteracy, unemployment, banditry, rising poverty levels and corruption at the heart of it all.

Nigerians remain one of the most resilient, optimistic and audacious people you can ever meet.

Nurture the Children International is finding ways to connect with the government of the day to ensure that children’s rights to the basic necessities – meals, affordable education, shelter, etc. are not neglected. We will continue to hold the government accountable because at NTC International, we believe that the plight of Nigerian children will determine the way the country’s future will be shaped.
