BBC Children in Need has launched its 2026 fundraising appeal, calling on people across the UK to help make sure every child has someone by their side when they need support.
The launch comes alongside new research highlighting some of the challenges facing young people. A survey of 2,000 children aged 11–16 and their parents found that 44% of children said they had felt worried or low, with nobody to talk to, at least sometimes during the previous month. Around 1 in 6 (17%) said they experienced this often or all the time. The research also found that cost was the biggest barrier preventing young people from accessing activities and opportunities outside school.
BBC Children in Need currently supports more than 1,500 projects across the UK, including youth clubs, community groups, family centres and helplines, helping children and young people build confidence, improve their wellbeing and feel more connected.
This year’s campaign includes Challenge Yourself 2026, encouraging people of all ages to take on a challenge inspired by the number 26 and raise money for children and young people. The annual BBC Children in Need Appeal Show will take place on Friday 13 November on BBC One and iPlayer.
