On Saturday, 27th of September, the launch of the Foron Daughters Forum activities kicked off with an advocacy visit led by the President, Ngo Josephine Pam Rwap, to the Gwom Rwei – Da David Dashon.
The forum was formed to improve the welfare and development of the Foron Community.
They were well received at the Palace during the courtesy call, which was organised to congratulate the newly installed chief and to highlight the issues that plague the Foron community, such as the plight of the girl child, widows, drug abuse and illicit mining activities – especially by underage children and truancy.
They also paid a condolence visit to the home of the Late Mrs Jonathan Pwol and were received by the head of the Pwol family, Da Joel Yusufu Pwol, Barr. Michael Pwol and her children.
Nurture the Children International, for the past decade, has been actively engaging with the women and children in the community.
Events such as our annual IDP Brush Up and Christmas Party, Distribution of sanitary pads to girls, toothpaste and brushes – Medical Outreaches and School Children’s Health Talks.
The NTC International Team also launched activities with the women called ‘NTC for WOMEN’ – where every Christmas women are given Food Hampers – with rice, beans, seasoning cubes, salt, palm & vegetable oil – so that children in EVERY HOME have a hot Christmas meal on Christmas Day.
The Gwom Rwei stated that he had ordered the seizure of illicit drugs and drinks set for destruction. He also ordered that no child under the age of 18 will be allowed to get involved in mining activities.
Nurture the Children International has been working hard over the past 13 years to put an end to truancy and encourage students’ attendance in school to complete their West African Examination Council qualifications successfully in order to make them eligible for further education in higher institutions.
Our NTC Food Bank provides school meals and school supplies for children in the poorest communities. Also, our Child Sponsorship programmes have sponsored hundreds of children throughout their primary school education. We have also gifted laptops to students in higher institutions to enable them to study effectively.
We look forward to partnering with all organisations with similar goals to transform the lives of impoverished communities.
